There is something extremely unique about being part of an experience that builds an atmosphere so tense it leaves you almost breathlessly too nervous to turn the next corner albeit a game.
After reading good reviews about F.E.A.R, I rushed out and grabbed F.E.A.R 2.
When hearing that it was a "creepy first-person shooter" (FPS) I went on to assume that at the end of it, I'd be left sat on the edge of my seat..
Unfortunately this was not the case. In fact, the game left you wondering most of the time whether something scary was actually going to happen and more often than not, nothing did.
Although the game is an eerie FPS, it comes across more like it has the odd scare in it, which leaves me wondering whether it should be called FEAR or something else. Nevertheless on the odd occasions where you were made to jump out of your skin, you were left contemplating on moving forward in the game, or regaining courage first..
However FEAR has a much more foreboding atmosphere when compared to FEAR 2, although, FEAR 2 has a solid online experience that plays well, and to add to that, the story line is rather gripping and has all the resources to keep you playing, but when it's compared to titles like Halo and Call Of Duty, it pales in comparison, unfortunately a lot of the scares in F.E.A.R 2 had been used up in F.E.A.R, and so a lot of the scares were like re-runs, it also leaves you questioning if there will be a F.E.A.R 3, but we can only hope that if there is, the fear-factor won't be missing and that the game will live up to it's name.
