Just a quick hit: RPGrinders episode 48 is up and should be ready on ITunes very soon for your listening pleasure. I was a little rusty coming back from vacation but I hope you enjoy the topics we discussed on the show including a discussion on why porn gets a bad rap. Incidentally would anyone be interested in a live show with call ins for our 50th episode which is coming in two weeks? let me know via twitter.com/frankbranches or frankbranches@comcast.net. Just curious. Hope everyone had a nice 4th. Later!

Im tired of plugging everything and everyone else on my podcast RPGrinders without getting a little love for RPGrinders from anyone else. Yes I'm a whiny bitch but to hell with it. Nobody ever has time to give us a quick 5 second plug at the end of their show, and no I'm not naming names or podcast. I put a shit ton of effort into producing, writing (what little there is), researching, hosting, editing, and generally frantically putting together what, in my view, is the most unique podcast on the internet every week. Yes I just gave myself a plug, whats it to you? I could be dishonest and say this show is all about me. In reality the show is about our listeners. What I don't get paid monetarily I get paid by the listeners downloads and listens. My gripe is not with them, it is with my podcasting peers that seem to forget the time and effort I put into supporting them. I say get off your asses (you know who you are) and show a little love for one of the most controversial, thought provoking, unique, and from time to time funny video game podcast on the interwebs. Sorry to rant, but I think a little respect is warranted.

Recently on the Gametopia a discussion was brought up about "hardcore" gamers. While I agree for the most part with Raychul's view on the subject, i have a different take. The discussion was brought up about an article in which the author was apparently bitching about dumbed down video games (correct me if I'm wrong). The real point that should have been made is if you don't like a game then don't play it. While i think anybody should be free to criticize anything they want, they could save themselves a lot of time and effort by simply not playing a game if you think its "too violent" or over sexualized. Just dont tell me i cant play it. It's funny because the movie industry and the video game industry are alike in this way: they tend to regulate themselves. Regardless of the game or movie they generally try to pander to the movie goers or game players for better or worse. This is the way it should be. I like the fact that sometimes i can go to a movie or play a game that the mainstream audience doesnt appreciate or care to look at. This makes the experience even better for me. I do like some mainstream movies too, they aren't all bad. Bottom line if you don't like something you have every right to say so, just dont expect me to change my mind.

We will have a few shows available as soon as the audio quality is up to DOOM's and my high standards for YOUR listening pleasure...... see you all soon and i hope i didn't freak too many people out (cept for M3RK! :)

As seen in the forums, I am announcing the end of RPGrinders effective immediately. Although fan support has been at its highest levels since I started the podcast I feel the time has come to end the show and go out on top. Thank you all for your support and I'm sure you will see us somewhere in the near future on the site in some form or fashion.

Man does work suck. I'm not saying my job is hard or anything but dang wouldnt it be soooo much better if we all could write, produce, create, and/or talk about video games every day? It seems like the only business that seems to be semi immune in today's economy is video games. I say we all get degrees in something to do with video games, quit our jobs, and make money doing something we all love- video games!!!!! Who's with me? Anybody, um hello anybody there? ;)

When I first started doing my show RPGrinders our first email posed an interesting question that I answered as best as I could. The question was something to the effect of how do you find time to play video games while raising children? At the time I replied that you have to find time. As I reflect the obvious response is "easier said than done". I have found out the hard way. I have two kids. Now my answer is the most honest thing I think I have ever said. It's damned hard! It became increasingly harder with school functions, changing daipers, and other obligatory doings. Throw in producing, editing, and hosting the show and you have a recipe for complete insanity. So why do I keep doing it? Why don't I quit and save myself a bit more time and energy? The answer lies with all of you. Video games is a passion we all share and without them there is one less thing to be joyful for, one less thing to in fact keep us sane. As for the show I won't quit because I am just as passionate for it as we all are for the games we play. As long as we have fun playing games and as long as you all enjoy listening to the show, I will find a way to keep on playing and keep on doing the show even with a smelly diaper to change or a school function to attend. See you at the next school fundraiser, er, I mean see you on Gametopius!
