PC Gamer Girl Yelling

Girl gamers are notorious for their negative attitudes and their lack of sportsmanship. They love to cut down and crucify any other girl that might be giving them any competition. They call any girl around them “attention whores,” and they like to question her knowledge of games.

But then they wonder why no one takes them seriously, why no one wants to work with them. They are sadly blinded to the fact that they themselves are the ones who are giving themselves the very bad reputation that they fight so hard to get rid of. Instead of being out there and gaming, because it’s something they swear they like doing, they are on message boards and blog sites flaming any other gamer girl who might be competition to all the attention they are getting at the moment.

What these girl gamers are forgetting and what they try so hard to deny is the fact that the video game business is a male-dominated industry. We as girls need to kinda “prove” ourselves in this industry, but to do that you don’t go around screaming “but I’m a girl gamer” at everyone you see. You prove yourself through gaming. Who would have thought of such a thing? I do not feel the need to walk around and scratch out the eyes of every female I see -- where would that get me? I game because it’s something I am passionate about. I don’t pick up a controller only when I think someone is watching.  This is an entertainment industry; people should be in it because it’s their passion, not because they are trying to prove something.

I love the fact that the gaming industry is more of a male-dominated industry. God help us all when it is no longer that. When you have a lot of guys together, they don’t try to talk shit about each other, they don’t call each other attention whores, and they don’t become catty and bitchy because there is another guy in the room that says he likes Rock Band. The girl mentality is souring the game industry.

There I said it! It’s true.

Just only about 5 years ago, gaming was still something that not many girls were into, and the industry was not full of bickering and needless name calling. People Fenake Gamers with Unpluged XXboxPC Gamer Girl Yellingplayed games together for fun and people didn’t feel the need to always prove themselves. Now that gaming has gone more mainstream and females have forced themselves into it, things are not as light-hearted and fun. Now the industry is saturated with drama and pettiness. I understand why a lot of gamers dislike the way things have gone down. Also, instead of the uprising of female gamers just joining in on the fun and wanting to experience everything with each other and the guys, they went in defensive and pretty much walked around with picket signs screaming sexism and yelling about how girls are viewed in a bad light in the industry. Geez, it’s like grade school all over again, when the guys would make a boys-only club house and the sister would come in and demand she be a part of it but then complain the whole time. Well, look at the gaming industry…look familiar?

If there is any type of discrimination going on, the girls are bringing it on themselves. Every time a female enters into a male-driven industry all she does is bitch and whine about being treated unfairly. She wants to be treated equally, when in fact we aren't equal...we may have some of the same interests but man and woman are not the same. The more the girl bitches about not being treated equally the more she alienates herself from the very people she is trying so hard to get to take her seriously, and the more she proves the point that we are not equal.

I am not saying all girl gamers out there are like this...look at Kat Hunter or Ciji Thornton “StarSlay3r.” Those are two girls who know their games and who are very well respected in the industry but do not feel the need to bad mouth every female that comes within arm’s distance. They play because they enjoy it, and they have the respect to prove it. What I am saying is that the majority of girl gamers feel like all they have to do is say “but I’m a girl gamer,” and instantly they should have the respect they want. They are so focused on proving themselves and so hell bent on discrediting the next girl that they forget about why they are even here. Just sit back, relax and play for yourself, stop trying to force people to take you seriously...stop trying to demand that respect. How do you expect to be taken seriously in this industry if all you do is bitch about how awful this industry is?

Just shut up and play.
